Programmed temperature vaporiser-based injection in capillary gas chromatography.
The application of programmed temperature vaporisation (PTV) in capillary gas chromatographic analysis is reviewed. The development of the different strategies as well as the state of the art are described. As the analytes are normally enriched in the PTV insert, the quoted papers are subdivided depending on whether the enrichment was carried out from organic solvents, from water or from gaseou...
متن کاملHigh Temperature Gas Chromatography
Gas chromatography (GC) is generally believed to be restricted to the analysis of ‘volatiles’ and is less applicable to the analysis of so-called ‘heavy’ compounds. The introduction of persilylated glass and fused silicea columns, of thermostable stationary phases and of non-discriminative injection devices in capillary GC (CGC) have made the deRnitions of ‘volatile’ and ‘heavy’ very Sexible. H...
متن کاملRapid temperature-programmed separation and retention prediction on a novel packed-capillary column in gas chromatography.
Novel packed-capillary columns for gas chromatography were developed with a thin-wall stainless-steel capillary of 1.0 mm i.d.; and rapid temperature-programmed separations have been carried out after a basic evaluation concerning the compatibility of these columns to the temperature program. With a numerical integration method, the retention of several test analytes during temperature-programm...
متن کاملEvaluation of retention time for temperature-programmed gas chromatography by use of a closed-form integral.
A closed-form integral for the Arrhenius exponential was obtained by using an approximate relation instead of the usual one in a linear temperature program. The closed-form integral can be applied to predict the retention time very well both for a packed column and for a capillary column, in constant the velocity mode.
متن کاملAn empirical approach for estimating the equivalent chain length of fatty acid methyl esters in multistep temperature-programmed gas chromatography.
The equivalent chain length (ECL) has been widely accepted as an identification tool for fatty acid methyl esters (FAMEs). In this study, FAMEs from the seed oil of Chinese mustard (Brassica juncea) analyzed on a 0.25-mm-i.d. capillary column coated with an SA-WAX are used as an example for the calculation of the ECL in single-, two-, three-, and four-step temperature-programmed gas chromatogra...
